Painting an unpainted Mon
Unpainted monsters ship primed in light grey. Any acrylic miniature paint works on them.
What we use
| Step | What | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Acrylic, thinned with water 2:1 | Two thin coats |
| Shade | A dark wash | Let it pool in the crevices |
| Highlight | Base colour plus white | Dry-brush the raised parts |
| Eyes | White, then black | Toothpick, not a brush |
| Varnish | Matte spray varnish | Outdoors, in two passes |
Common mistakes
- Paint too thick: the details fill up and the monster looks melted.
- Varnish too close: it pools. Hold the can 25 cm away.
- Painting the eyes first: they get smudged by everything after.
